On Saturday, September 29, 2018, Jessica Robles of Stories and Films became an award-winning filmmaker at the 1st annual Just Be You Performing Arts, Film, and Performing Arts Festival in Bound Brook, NJ.
Robles won the award for Best Short Documentary in the Adult Division for her short film, “Of a 6-Year Old Girl”.
The festival was held at the historic Brooks Arts Center, 10 Hamilton Street in Bound Brook, NJ.
In addition to the films screening, there was an acting workshop, the “JBY Triple Threat” talent contest, a fashion show, a comedy concert, then the awards ceremony. The Just Be You Performing Arts, Film, and Performing Arts Festival was founded by actress, writer, director, and producer Mahogany Reynolds-Clarke. She developed Just Be You Performing Arts to inspire and mentor children with the goal of inspiring them to “dream big” and to have a platform for youth in the performing arts.
In addition to winning for an award for best short documentary, Jessica Robles and Stories and Films’ short film, “Basketball + Laughs = Life” was an Official Selection for the festival and was a semi-finalist in the category of Best Short Documentary”.
